Abstract

This research deals with the development of the Spanish doctrine on the state in the 17th century and the formulation of a discourse about the monarchy, the empire, war and peace. the context in which such Spanish doctrine is formulated is organized as from the international conflict of the thirty Years' War, which will have a dual nature for Spain: confessional and of worldwide political domain; a European internal context, considering Spain's European possessions, which will be characterized by the uprising and resistance to the Spanish domain: the Netherlands, Catalonia, which obliges Spain to be involved in a permanent war, which lasts for more than 140 years. In the external context, object of this study, the ideological conflict during the thirty Years' War (1618-1648): Monarchy, state and empire.
